Lisbon in the 1990s. Three brothers: two boys and a girl, Maria, the centre of our story. She's twenty years old, but she can't behave like most people her age. She hardly ever says what she thinks or asks for what she wants. She hardly ever tells the truth, although she never lies. He kills and doesn't say he killed. She suffers and doesn't say she has. It doesn't want to be alone, but it doesn't ask for company. She loves, but doesn't know who she loves. She was born in Lisbon and has never been to another city. Maria always wants to be with her siblings, but she can't because the world wasn't organised like that. Maria wants to cope with everything on her own. She wants to be strong, to take care of everyone. She wants to keep all the secrets, her own and those of others. She can't, the pain is too great and she can't bear it. The police are after her, she no longer has a job. She has to look after her father, someone died and she kept it a secret and took care of everything herself. In the end, Maria makes a decision. It's a brutal and definitive decision. It's not a happy story, but sometimes life is like that too.
