The Tree of Knowledge

Gaspar (Rui Pedro Silva), a teenager from the suburbs of Lisbon, falls into the hands of the Ogre, a man who has made a pact with the Devil and uses the boy to attract tourists by turning them into animals and then slaughtering them. Gaspar escapes with a donkey and a dog to whom he has become attached and, in an enchanted manor house, meets the spirit of Queen Maria I. Meanwhile, the Ogre goes looking for him in a rage. Eugène Green, known for his inspiration in Baroque theatre and his idiosyncratic sense of humour, returns to Portugal for the third time to perform this funny and urgent fairy tale.
