Set during the American Civil War, Buster Keaton embodies Johnnie, a railroad engineer who has two loves: his girlfriend, Annabelle, and a locomotive named “The General.” When the enemy captures both, Johnnie will not rest until he rescues them. A film packed with moments of laughter, but at the same time a melodrama and an action film with careful historical reenactment. It was among his films that Keaton was most proud of and contains some of the most fantastic physical feats and comedic choreographies in cinema history.
