Artisanal fishing in the Azores is sustained by audacious young people who master dangers and fears, establishing a pact of mutual respect with Nature. Pedro dreams of owning a boat, forming a close-knit team, and taking his destiny into his own hands. Filmed between 1999 and 2002, this documentary aims to capture how work can shape the bodies and character of men. Several documented fishing techniques have since disappeared under the pressure of industrial fishing and economic interests.
