Peter von Kant is a successful director. He lives with his assistant, Karl, whom he enjoys humiliating. Sidonie was his muse for years and introduces him to Amir, a modest young man, with whom he falls in love, offering to share his apartment with him and advance his career in the film industry. But as soon as Amir becomes famous, he ends the relationship with Peter, leaving him alone with his demons. Adapted from Rainer Werner Fassbinder's The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, Ozon offers us a daring vision in a film of charming aesthetics and a feast of satirical humor. An impressive and dedicated cast embraces Ozon's relentless commentary on celebrity. From Denis Ménochet as the tortured artist, the fearless Isabelle Adjani, a surprisingly expressive Stéfan Crépon as the shattered assistant, to the talented Khalil Gharbia, who plays the cruel Amir.
