In 14th-century medieval Germany, ravaged by the Black Death, the village of Hamelin remains untouched. A group of minstrels and a mysterious piper arrive in Hamelin, but they are denied entry so as not to disrupt the wedding arrangements of the mayor's daughter and the baron's son. On the wedding day, the village is overrun by rats, and only the piper, with his magical powers, can eradicate them. There, he is confronted with the greed and corruption that dominate the village. An adaptation of one of the most important folktales in German culture.
