16th century. Magellan, a young and ambitious Portuguese navigator, rebels against the power of the king, who does not support his dream of discovering the world. He convinces the Spanish Crown to finance his daring expedition to the legendary lands of the Orient. The journey turns out to be tougher than expected, with hunger and riots pushing the crew to their limits. On reaching the islands of the Malay Archipelago, Magellan's mind changes. He becomes obsessed with conquest and conversion, which triggers violent uprisings beyond his control. This is not the myth of Magellan, but the truth of his journey.
