After winning the prize at Un Certain Regard in Cannes with their first film Les Pires, directors Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret return with Ma Frère.
Based on the popular series Tu préfères?, the film follows Shai and Djeneba, two 19-year-old friends from a working-class neighbourhood in Paris. While one deals with an oppressive family and the other with existential emptiness, both find a refuge from their daily lives in the holiday camp where they are tutors. On the brink of adulthood, this experience sets the stage for a journey of personal discovery, forcing them to confront crucial choices that will test the limits of their indelible friendship. A luminous and sensitive portrait of youth, emancipation and the passage of time, presented as a world premiere in the Cannes Première section of the Cannes Film Festival.
