Aldo, a labourer, is in a relationship with Irma, with whom he has a daughter. After receiving the news of her husband's death, Irma decides to leave him. Aldo sets off with his daughter on a wander round the region, where he meets various women and is simultaneously confronted with his sentimental alienation.
