Fogo Fátuo

2069, a year perhaps erotic – we shall soon see – but fateful for a king without a crown. On his deathbed, an old song makes him recall trees; a burnt pine forest and the time when the desire to be a firefighter, to free Portugal from the scourge of fires, was also the awakening of another desire. Then a prince, Alfredo meets Afonso. From different backgrounds and with different skin colors, they meet, help each other, and the lexicon of abuse becomes tinged with desire. But public exposure and its expectations intervene, and Alfredo embraces another state of readiness for an improbable reality.
