Rome, 1980. Filmmaker Salvatore Di Vitta receives a phone call from his mother informing him of the death of his old friend Alfredo. Salvatore – or Totó – is flooded with memories, revisiting his childhood in his native Sicily, when he lived fascinated by the magic booth of Alfredo, the grumpy projectionist at the village cinema: Cinema Paradiso. A great success of the time, Cinema Paradiso reconciles with a tradition of popular cinema overflowing with generosity and cinematic references, between laughter and tears. It celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
