After the premiere of Stolen Kisses (1968) at the Cinémathèque Française, Henri Langlois, the director of that cinema, said to Truffaut: "I want to see these young people married soon". Married Domicile fulfils this wish. Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud) is married to Christine (Claude Jade), but soon after the birth of their first child, he has an affair with the beautiful Japanese Kyoko (Hiroko Berghauer). The affair ruins the couple's relationship and Doinel tries to win Christine back.
