Accattone

Vittorio (Franco Citti), known as Accattone (slang for "petty thief"), inhabits the suburbs of Rome and leads a life marked by idleness, as a pimp, exploiting his girlfriend Maddalena (Silvana Corsini) and spending time with his companions. But when Maddalena is mistreated by members of a rival gang for having denounced one of them, she ends up in prison and Accattone is left without a livelihood. He soon finds a replacement in the innocent Stella (Franca Pasut), whom he tries to drag into a life of prostitution. But not everything goes according to Accattone's plan.
