João de Deus, the character created by João César Monteiro in "Recordações da Casa Amarela," is in this film the manager and ice cream maker of Paraíso do Gelado (Ice Cream Paradise), where he invented the "paradise" ice cream, the house specialty that delights customers. He occupies his almost always solitary leisure hours collecting female pubic hairs, in a precious album he calls the Book of Thoughts, also filled with words and quotes.
