A film that follows the life of Eduard Limonov (played here by Ben Whishaw) - poet, novelist and icon of the Russian counterculture, but also homeless, butler and politician.
Born in Russia, he emigrated to the USA in the 1970s, where he lived as a homeless man and a millionaire's employee, while writing poetry and autobiographical novels; in the following decade, in France, his works earned him literary recognition. On his return to his home country after the fall of the Soviet Union, he founded the National Bolshevik Party, a radical party banned by the Russian authorities, becoming a symbol of resistance.
