Albert Serra follows Andrés Roca Rey, a great star of the Spanish bullfighting world, and documents his devotion to this tradition. Filming the entire ritual repeatedly and meticulously - from the nerves of putting on the costume to the entrance into the arena, the bloody catch and the aftermath of the show - the director asks the viewer the question and invites them to draw their own conclusions: is what they are witnessing art or a grotesque performance?
Warning: Some bloody scenes of the bullfighting spectacle, filmed in close-ups that intensify their perception, may disturb an unprepared audience.
